We are a brother-sister team based in New York City. After years of experience in different academic and professional sectors, we saw the growing need for high-quality media production services as a great opportunity to join forces. Brian has a background in the nonprofit and private sectors and Jen brings extensive training in documentary film production. We launched Archetypal Media to combine these skills in service to other storytellers as clients and collaborators.
Our company name is a nod to the work of Carl Jung and Caroline Myss on the patterns of characters and plotlines in human mythology. They call these patterns “archetypes.” Some examples of archetypal characters/identities include the mother, the artist, and the healer. Some examples of archetypal stories are the hero’s journey, the quest, and overcoming the monster. We think archetypal analysis is useful for understanding ourselves and others’ perspectives, and for developing compelling stories. We also like stand-up comedy, the show Difficult People, and have been obsessed with sketch comedy since we watched Keenan and Lori Beth Denberg on All That. We put more information about ourselves below to convince you we are legit.
